Distance / Accuracy

Test your timing, precision, and teamwork!

In this high-energy disc dog format, teams race against the clock to complete as many long, accurate throws and catches as possible in the time allotted.

Dogs catch discs in marked zones across the field – the farther the catch, the higher the score! Bonus points are awarded for airborne catches.

D/A - Events

D/A - Throw It!

Throw It! is a fast-paced disc dog competition where a handler throws a disc and their dog catches it.

The event takes place on D/A Field 1, with one dog-handler team on the field at a time and a strict 90-second time limit per round.

"You Throw It. They Catch It. We Cheer."

Key Highlights:

  • Throwing Rules: All throws must be made from the same end of the field. Handlers may cross the line between throws but must return behind it to throw.
  • Scoring Zones: Points are awarded based on the distance of the catch, judged by the rear-most paw's location. There are 4 standard scoring zones and a Junior Zone (0–9m).
  • Air Bonus: A ½-point bonus is awarded for leaping catches (all four paws off the ground).
  • Rollers: For Roller Dog participants, only rolling discs are allowed. Standard zone scoring applies, but air bonuses do not.
  • Best Five Rule: The five highest-scoring catches in a round count toward the final score and qualification.
  • Discs: It’s a single disc event, though a backup disc may be handed to the judge before starting.
