Kynex – The next Evolution in Dog Sport

Kynex is a modern dog sport built around flow, speed, precision and teamwork.

Dogs and handlers work together through challenges using hoops, barrels and tunnels, with each Kynex discipline testing a different combination of directional control, obstacle commitment, independence, strategy and handler communication.

With no jumping required, Kynex is designed to encourage fast, confident and flowing movement while providing a progressive pathway for teams to develop increasingly advanced handling skills..

What is Kynex?

Kynex is a fast, flowing canine sport where dogs and handlers work together across a range of obstacle-based disciplines.

Using hoops, barrels and tunnels, teams are challenged to maintain momentum while demonstrating accuracy, directional control and strong communication.

Each Kynex discipline brings something different to the sport.

Hoop Dash rewards speed, flow and precision through a fixed hoop course. Barrel Cross challenges teams through a fast cloverleaf barrel pattern. Tunnel Rush combines speed with strategy as teams choose their own route to accumulate points while maintaining continuous flow.

Whether a team is learning the foundations or developing advanced distance and directional skills, Kynex provides opportunities to keep learning, progressing and competing.

  • Directional Skills: Developing clear left, right, send and movement cues.
  • Distance Handling: Teaching dogs to confidently work away from their handler.
  • Flow & Movement: Maintaining continuous forward motion and efficient lines through a course.
  • Handler Positioning: Learning how movement, timing and body position influence the dog's line.
  • Strategy: Developing the ability to plan efficient routes and make decisions within disciplines where course strategy forms part of the game.
