Part 1 - Introduction

Objectives of Dog Sports Down Under

 Dog Sports Down Under is a non-profit sanctioning body established for the following purpose:

  • To promote Dog Sports in Australia
  • Establish rules of competition of Dog Sports 
  • Register and maintain records of competing teams
  • Tabulate and issue titles earned by registered teams
  • Develop and certify judges.

Organisation and Structure

 Dog Sports Down Under (DSDU) has an executive council and an executive committee.

  • The executive council consists of the founding members:
    • Allison Britton
    • Leanne Wegner
    • Samatha Dobson
    • Sharyn Palmer
  • The executive committee consists of the following positions
    • Chair
    • Vice Chair
    • Secretary 
    • Treasurer 
    • Sports Coordinators
  • Executive committee members are appointed.
    • Candidates are selected based on recommendations from the executive council.
    • Executive Council members may also hold a position on the executive committee
  • The executive council & committee meets once a year or as needed to discuss issues, policy and rule changes.
  • Members are invited to submit written comments or suggestions to DSDU for consideration by the executive.
  • DSDU sanctions events. 
  • DSDU does not host events, however it will appoint a working party or committee to host National, State, Regional Events or other special events.


Accepted Canine Breeds

Dog Sports Down Under (DSDU) sports are open to all Pedigree & Non-Pedigree dogs with the exception of the following restricted breeds;

  • Restricted Breeds that are excluded from DSDU sanctioned events that are in Full or Part of an
    • American Pit Bull
    • Japanese Tosa
    • Argentine Fighting Dog
    • Brazilian Fighting Dog

    And/Or any other breed which may be deemed as a restricted dog, or if it is an individual dog which may be deemed as a dangerous dog as defined in the Companion Animal Act 1988 (NSW) and/or defined in any other state, territory or the Commonwealth of Australia equivalent Act.
