Part 5 - discilplinary processes

Disciplinary Panel

 A disciplinary panel will consist of no less than three (3) members of the executive council and/or the executive committee.


Complaints

  • All complaints must be in writing and submitted to DSDU.
  • Only complaints from members, event hosts or from current DSDU judges will be considered.
  • All complaints must be signed.
  • All complaints will be reviewed and investigated by the DSDU executive Council.
  • Substantiated complaints will be forwarded to the disciplinary panel.
  • Complainants and accused will be made aware in writing of any findings.


Penalties

  • Penalties may apply to complaints substantiated by the Disciplinary Panel
  • Penalties may include suspension, expulsion or letter of apology that the executive council may deem warranted.

Probation

  • Members disqualified by a judge from two trials in one year will automatically be sent a notice of probation.
  • Probation will last for one year.
  • Within this one-year period a member on probation must not incur any further disqualifications.
  • Any member already on probation who is disqualified by a judge will be suspended from competing for one year (12 months). This suspension will begin at the time of the disqualification while still on probation.
  • After serving a one-year suspension a member will begin a probation period of two years.
  • If a member serving a second probation is disqualified they will be suspended for a period of no less than two years
  • A member that has been suspended a second time must apply to DSDU to compete.
  • An application after a suspension will be reviewed by the disciplinary panel and may be rejected or accepted.
  • Suspension may apply to the dog only, or handler only depending on the reason for the suspension.
  • Any handler whose dog has been suspended can still continue to compete with other dogs and may apply for DSDU registration numbers for new dogs.
  • A member that is suspended from competition may also be suspended from attending any DSDU sanctioned events
