Part 6 - Sports Affiliation & Event Sanctioning

New Sports Affiliations

 DSDU will affiliate and develop new sports upon application. If you have a new sport idea email us at dogsportsdownunder@gmail.com 


Club Affiliation

Clubs, training and non-training groups, may affiliate with DSDU. Clubs need to submit a request for Affiliation via email, along with proof of Public Liability, Voluntary Workers Cover insurance, and a copy of the club’s constitution. DSDU has two types of affiliation

  • Not for Profit Clubs/Groups or
  • Event Host Partner


Affiliations can be for one or more of the dogs sports that DSDU sanctions events for, email dogsportsdownunder@gmail.com to request an application for affiliation.


Event Sanctioning

  • Sport Group Affiliates wishing to hold a DSDU sanctioned event must submit an official Event Sanctioning Application Form.
  • Event Sanctioning Application must be submitted at least Twelve (12) weeks prior to the proposed event date, or proposed close of entries date.
  • All applications must be completed in full to be considered. Incomplete applications may be returned.
  • Events may be limited by a pre-registration date.
  • A host Sport Group Affiliate or trial organiser must agree to the following:
    • Pay the administration fee for every schedule submitted.
    • Reimburse official judges or arrange and make payment for accommodation and travel expenses directly related to the event.
  • A host Sport Group Affiliate may apply to hold two events on one day. An event application must be submitted for each individual event being held on the same day.
  • All official classes for each Sport Group must be offered.

Types of Events

Online Events

  • DSDU will sanction online events which will be judged by video submission.
  • Video submissions must meet the following criteria
    • A public event page is to be created on the affiliates social media or website for video submissions to be uploaded to.
    • Consider your camera angle, the video must show a clear view of the marked field.
    • Video Submission with the camera angle to low, may be deemed unsuitable for judging.
    • Keep it in the frame, it can't be judged if it can't be seen.
    • If the video is poor quality or too far away, your submission may be deemed as unsuitable for judging.
  • Online events will not be sanctioned as Championship Events.


Local Events

  • Local events which will have a maximum of two (2) rounds of any format as defined in each of the Sports Groups.


Championship Events

  • Championships events will have a maximum number of competition rounds as defined in each of the Sports Groups.
  • Championship events maybe a single day event or a two day event.


Special Championship Events 

  • DSDU will appoint a working party or committee to host National Titles, State Titles, or Regional Championship Events
  • An event that may go longer than a normal Championship Single or Two Day Event.
  • Other Special Championship events that may be sanctioned.
